چکیده

We explore connections between polyhedral projection and inference in propositional logic We formulate the problem of drawing all inferences that contain a restricted set of atoms i e all inferences that pertain to a given question as a logical projection problem We show that polyhedral projection partially solves this problem and in particular derives precisely those inferences that can be obtained by a certain form of unit resolution We prove that this unit resolution algorithm is exponential in the number of atoms in the restricted set but is polynomial in the problem size when this number of xed We also survey a number of new satis ability algorithms that have been suggested by the polyhedral interpretation of propositional logic

Extending the Qualitative Trajectory Calculus Based on the Concept of Accessibility of Moving Objects in the Paths

Qualitative spatial representation and reasoning are among the important capabilities in intelligent geospatial information system development. Although a large contribution to the study of moving objects has been attributed to the quantitative use and analysis of data, such calculations are ineffective when there is little inaccurate data on position and geometry or when explicitly explaining ...

Modelling Decision Problems Via Birkhoff Polyhedra

A compact formulation of the set of tours neither in a graph nor its complement is presented and illustrates a general methodology proposed for constructing polyhedral models of decision problems based upon permutations, projection and lifting techniques. Directed Hamilton tours on n vertex graphs are interpreted as (n-1)- permutations. Sets of extrema of Birkhoff polyhedra are mapped to tours ...

Error Bound and Reduced-Gradient Projection Algorithms for Convex Minimization over a Polyhedral Set

Consider the problem of minimizing, over a polyhedral set, the composition of an afline mapping with a strongly convex differentiable function. The polyhedral set is expressed as the intersection of an affine set with a (simpler) polyhedral set and a new local error bound for this problem, based on projecting the reduced gradient associated with the affine set onto the simpler polyhedral set, i...

Computer-Aided Panoramic Images Enriched by Shadow Construction on a Prism and Pyramid Polyhedral Surface

The aim of this study is to develop an efficient and practical method of a direct mapping of a panoramic projection on an unfolded prism and pyramid polyhedral projection surface with the aid of a computer. Due to the fact that straight lines very often appear in any architectural form we formulate algorithms which utilize data about lines and draw panoramas as plots of functions in Mathcad sof...

Finite-Resolution Aspect Graphs of Polyhedral Objects

W e address the problem of computing the exact aspect graph of a polyhedral object observed b y an orthographic camera with finite resolution, such that two image points separated b y a distance smaller than a preset threshold cannot be resolved, Under this projection model, views that would be different under normal orthographic projection may become equivalent, while “accidental” views may oc...
